I advise everyone that there is a rather steep learning curve with SF8, but once you take the time to figure out what you're goals and and how to achieve them, nothing works better IMHO than SF8. Sheesh, are you folks real? I have a Coolscan 5000 and use VueScan with it, but I also have Epson and Plustek scanners and the Silverfast software makes me avoid the Nikon scanner now.

There sofware may have the best scanning algorithms, the whole package and the lack of documentation and support make it a real scam.Īt such a price tag, we customers are legitimate to expect a full and correct documentation and support. My alternative is VueScan.įorget about getting a decent support from LaserSoft. But it's really expensive, and before I decide, I'm interested in the response you got (or didn't get) from LaserSoft.

I've been thinking about upgrading to Ai Studio / Archive 8 - that is, with the HDR module, and possibly getting a newer IT8 Kodachrome target. Documenttation is poor - which is one reason I'm interested in what response you got from LaserSoft: did you find better documentation? Silverfast 6.6 is a pain to use, and even with the LS9000 calibrated using the IT8 target, the results are not that great. I've got Silverfast Ai Studio 6.6, plus the Kodachrome IT8 target, both a few years old. I also have a Nikon LS9000 - plus a large collection of Kodachrome 64 slides to scan. Please provide an email address or phone number and our support team will get into contact with you.ĭid you get a response from LaserSoft, and did it give you what you wanted? Our forum is not dead and we always try to have a sympathetic ear for our customers. We cannot understand your difficulties contacting us. As many other Nikon users are very pleased with their scanning results using SilverFast, we are really interested to learn more about your problems. We are very sorry to read about you being so disappointed with SilverFast 8. If anyone is using SF with the Nikon 9000 and getting acceptable results, could you please point me some documentation on how to do it? I bought the third party book by Segal but it is poorly written, no table of contents, no index, very poor english and grammar and is as useless as the software at this stage. I am assuming the forum is dead as its been over a week and still hasn't showed up. And I have repeatedly tried posting on the Silverfast forum however, none of posts/questions show up and I can no get an answer from Lasersoft. There is no manual, which for a complicated piece of software at this price is a joke. There is no ability to preview each frame on the strip and make adjustments. Good luck trying to do that with Silverfast. I used to be able to scan a whole strip of 6 x 4.5 and make adjustments for each frame. The scan quality sucks (compared with Vuescan or NikonScan) and the color is all over the place. The user interface is garbage/complicated/ and totally not in compliance with Apple Human Interface Guidelines. I fail to see what people see in the software. Recently I purchased Silverfast 8 and I am totally disappointed. I switched over to Vuescan and have been generally happy. I had been using Nikon Scan until they stopped updating.
